TECHNICAL CINEMATOGRAPHY

PHOTOGRAPHY
This shot was taken on a low angle, getting a full image of the background and the whole. This was a focused mainly on the person itself. The background was neutral colours such as greens and greys as well as having natural light hitting the face and one bit of the body being shadowed.

This image was taken directly under the sun with a glimpse of the background din the picture. This was a straight camera shot getting a glimpse of just half the boy and the face. The background seems to be blurred out and focused into the images of the object itself.

This image is a cool toned picture as the shadow from the sun is hitting directly at the picture and it blurs out the face and focuses on the clothes and the centre of the image. This shot was taken on a low angle to get the lower part of the portrait.

This shot was also taken on a low angle with the sun directly hitting against the objects. You can see the edge of the two cars in the frame in-between the objects. All objects are positioned in an slanted position and it focuses on their face. As the sun directly hits the objects, you can see the shadow hitting the other side of the object creating an uneven tone to the warm tone image.

Comp 1: SECTION A EXAM PREP: MEDIA LANGUAGE

Clothing:

The simple magazine poster of a yellow background shows the simple depiction of the poster and the product that is shown highlights that is mostly based on the product and the target audience rather than the image as a whole. The two children are shown to be wearing simple collared shirt and dress which shows their social class superiority as they are simple white middle class people. The children are also seen to be wearing a bandage and a nurse headband which could connote that the product could be good for your health.

Expression:

The children are seen also to be smiling which could mean that they are happy and confident with the product and they enjoy the product, which is Weetabix.  Their rosy red cheeks show that they are excited and happy as well as a stereotypical way of presenting children in the World War 2 period as they would be happy with what they are doing. They have blue eyes and blonde hair which is the stereotypical view of people. The close up shots can highlight the main targeted audience as it is aimed at children and also with mothers as they are the people who go out and purchase it. This represents the stereotypical view of women as they were instructed to take care of children and the household.

Technique:

The use of the way the product is constructed conveys a meaning of how healthy the product, which is Weetabix is and it draws the target audience in. The simple use of the background could suggest sophistication and simplicity which could draw the target eye mostly onto the product itself. The main product is positioned at the bottom of the page and is positioned as a big image to highlight how the advertisement is based on the product.  The adjectives in the caption suggest that the advanced nurse highly recommends Weetabix to children as it makes them stronger and healthier.

Colours:

The simplicity of the colours are construct a meaning for the product as it highlights in the main products and the main audience. The advert uses primary colours such as brown, yellow, white, blue and red. The use of light colours conveys a sense of light and daytime as well as childhood innocence and good health.  This could be understood by the audience due to the vivid use of the light colours. The brightness of the red coupon emphasise the key image portrayed as it stands out in front of the yellow background to exaggerate the coupon and to make mothers get a sample size for them to try it out.

Images:

The image is highly based on the picture of the children as well as the product itself. This means that it highlights how the children are the target market but mothers buy them Weetabix to make them strong and healthy. The image of the piping hot Weetabix shows the best way it should be served for breakfast.  These images have been placed in the Mise-en-scene to communicate a message about the product and to give information about it and to draw the aimed audiences.

Language & Language features:

The lexis used to underline the simplicity and how it highlights the genre of the product which is how healthy the food actually is and the benefits of eating it. Specific terminology is used to suggest how to persuade one to buy the product to create a meaning for the product as a whole. The language features is that the way the style of language is produced to create a specific purpose.

FILM POSTER

Clothing:

The woman is seen wearing a simple black strappy dress which could sexualise and objectify her as a woman. She is also seen wearing red lipstick which could connote her sexuality as a woman as well as her sexual passion. Red connotes with the idea of sexual imagery as in the American dream society women were seen as objects, which therefore they had no control and they were weak as shown in the poster. The man is seen to be wearing a simple black suit which could highlight his business middle class status, that means he needs to look of a higher status.

 Expression:
The facial expressions of the positioned front image of the man and the woman show how  she is looking at him, whereas he's looking at his lips. It also seems as if her hands are tied, possibly with a rope, which suggests s
he's weak and not in control of the relationship. In contrast, the man in the back is shirtless making him vulnerable. However, the women hitting him seems to be extremely angry and vexed about a certain situation that caused her to use the weapon on him.

Technique:

The bold lettering of the main characters are in red, which could connote the sexualised imagery or passion between the main characters. In addition to this, this is the only text that is in bold red

which could show their importance in the film. This contrasts to the title which is in black, shown to be as important as the main actors. The simplicity of then background is used to emphasise the main attribute to the images as well as the title and main actors. The off white highlights the red and black making it seem quite bold.

Colours

Colour scheme of red, white and black. The connotations of red could imply tat sexualising women as red highlights the sexual desire and pleasure women are objectified.

Images

The film poster is a cartoon figure which could show the fantasy vs reality aspect of the idealistic women that the 1940's American dream of women are presented as. In the background, it can be seen that there is a shirtless man being attacked by a woman which could  show occurrence of female dominance. The main image is of a man and woman. In this picture it is shown that the man is grouping her by the neck. This could show the patriarchal society they lived in as the man shows male dominance with the act of showing power and being inferior in society. By positioning the man abusing the woman as the first image and the woman hitting the man in the image positioned near the back, this shows the idea of male dominance, taking a hold of society and how it is constructed and how it was considered the norm to do that.

Comp 1: VIDEO GAMES

PEGI
Pegi stands for Pan European Game Information. It is system whereby consumers ,mostly parents, can decide on whether they want to purchase a game for their child, depending on what is acceptable for their age. Pegi presents ratings to consider age suitability of a game, not level of difficulty, which can be confused by parents.

This rating is suitable for all age groups. Therefore anything with the rating 'Pegi 3' means that it does not contain any sounds or pictures to do with violence and it is suitable for young children to watch. There is no bad language either making it extra suitable for any age groups especially younger children. An example of this is "Super Lucky's tale"

This rating is Pegi 7, which means that there are scenes which can frighten younger children and very mild forms of violence, which is acceptable. It is still suitable for all ages, However, it involves mild amount of violence and there is also no bad language. An example of this is "Ben 10"

This rating is suitable for ages above 12. This is because there is more violence towards fantasy characters vs non realistic violence, towards more human like characters. In this rating, there is more positioning of sexual activity as well as adding mild bad language and gambling can occur in the game too. An example of this is "Destiny 2"

There is move depiction of sexual activity and more violence acts. They also make it seem like it's real life which gets the audience more into it as they feel as if they are part of the storyline and they themselves are the characters. There is a extreme tone of bad language as well as more illegal drugs such as cannabis. An example of this is "Call of Duty: Ghosts"

This rating is the highest rating you can get, Pegi 18. This has adult classification when the amount of violence and sexual activity become a depiction of gross violence. Whereby the audience can take part in brutally killing defenceless characters. There is a high number of glamorisation towards illegal drugs, violence, sexual activity, with the help of human like characters and major use of bad language. An example of this is "Assassins Creed 3: Liberation"
